Welcome to our page featuring some of the top safari lodges
On the list below you will find some of the top safari lodges in Namibia that are regularly booked by Namibia Holidays Tours & Safaris. The reason for this is that they have proven themselves to be excellent hosts in every way over the years. As a former hotel and lodge manager with over 40 years of experience in high-class gastronomy, Felix Heyl is particularly concerned with the fact that the quality of a lodge operation has to be right and corresponds to the price-performance ratio in his offered tours. With the lodges mentioned here, it must be emphasized that it is not a question of which lodge has the most luxury to offer, because the selection of the lodges is generally based only on the experience with the services of the companies that we have made over the years. Accordingly, the list includes lodges from the middle class to the luxury category.
It should also be noted that there is no official lodge rating system in Namibia and most lodge owners rate their lodges themselves. This is largely accepted as a reality by the inspectors of the Namibian Tourist Association, in contrast to South Africa (see: https://www.tourismgrading.co.za/get-graded/whats-in-it-for-me/grading-criteria- 3 /) where established guidelines must be followed. Thus, the stars mentioned on the websites of the lodges don’t always correspond to the facts and often these stars refer at best to the luxurious furnishings of a lodge.
There is also no training system such as an apprenticeship for personnel in Namibia, and therefore all employees in the companies are trained by their employer for their specific area of application. There is also no high-quality hotel management school in Namibia and the state-owned Polytech Namibia does not meet internationally accepted standards. Surprisingly, however, you can often find excellent cuisine in various lodges, which is also managed by previously disadvantaged staff. Be that as it may, tourists often make the mistake of comparing the Namibian hospitality industry with those in highly developed countries around the world. Namibia is still a developing country and compromises have to be made from time to time. This is the reality and shouldn’t deter anyone from visiting this unique and beautiful country. Hospitality is still very important and the staff in most of the hospitality establishments go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
